Speed Enforcement

On Tuesday July 27, 2010 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., officers from the Torrance Police Department's Traffic & Special Events Division conducted a Special Enforcement Operation in the 500 block of Maple Avenue for drivers observed traveling at an unsafe speed in a posted 30 MPH speed zone. read more...

On April 24, 2010, at approximately 0003 hours, the Torrance Police Department received a call of a possible gun shot victim at the 16600 block of Ogram Ave in the City of Torrance.  Officers arrived on scene and located the victim who was pronounced dead. read more...

Dog Stealing Burglars Arrested

On April 05, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., Officers of the Torrance Police Department responded to a call of a suspicious subject in the 3300 block of Eldorado Street.  A resident reported a man had parked his vehicle in his driveway, knocked on his door and attempted to sell him a puppy.  The man left after the conversation and the dubious resident called police providing the description of the man, his vehicle and his suspicious actions.read more...

On April 13, 2010, at 1122 a.m., Officers of the Torrance Police Department, Crime Impact Team, arrested two burglars as they prowled a quiet residential tract and burglarized one home.  As recently as April 09, 2010, the Torrance Police Department had identified an increase in residential burglaries and had stepped up patrols in the affected neighborhoods. read more...

The Torrance Police Department will be conducting a DUI / Drivers License checkpoint on 12-19-09 from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.  In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved collisions, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving. read more...


"Click or Ticket" Seatbelt Mobilization Announcement

The Torrance Police Department along with more than 175 local law enforcement agencies statewide and the CHP will be participating in this year's Click It or Ticket mobilization, taking place November 17, 2009 through November 30, 2009. Currently California has a seat belt usage rate of 95.4 percent, but that still means over 1.5 million people in the state are not buckling up. Properly restrained drivers, passengers and children have a 50 percent better chance of surviving a crash than unbelted occupants.  Those ejected from vehicles in crashes or roll-overs are up to 35 times more likely to die than restrained occupants.  read more...
