The duties of the Chaplain's generally include the following activities:
Be available to families in traumatic situations
Respond to major incidents and cases involving serious injury
Participate in ride-along's.
Provide input to the Department on community problems, needs, concerns, and interest as learned from the community
Chaplains are issued Department identification cards and blue jackets to identify them as Torrance Police Department Chaplains. They meet once per month at the station. The Chief's Office has overall administrative supervision of the Chaplains; the lieutenant assigned to that office is responsible for selecting, training and coordinating the Police Chaplain Program.
